In combining illustrations with bookbinding, an image can take on various roles which may or may not be realized in print alone. Producing books from xerox also enables the artist to experiment with various scales and layouts before making a finished piece. If an image can have multiple lives as a component of a book, as a web graphic or as a film, it becomes part of a vocabulary in describing a point of view. This is the point of view from The Scrap King Press.

This book is a jacob's ladder format. It has no spine and can be opened either direction. Like the toy it is based upon, the number of panels is unlimited (until it becomes cumbersome to view) There are pen and ink drawings outside and in to depict various states of urban stress. It was created for an exhibition at The Philadelphia PrintClub.
